If you're not up to this task it is best to not attempt it. An alternative to installing a natural putting green is to install a synthetic one using fake grass. By Limadijaya Suhendra I bought the bonsai in northern Bandung in 2004. I drove my own car accompanied by employees. When arrived, I see numerous small and raw bonsai. Some were good, but some were only raw bonsai. Then the owner invited us to see his farm, which had raw bonsai planted in soil and polybags. Some of them were planted from seeds, graftings, and natures. In his farm I saw a Kaliandar Variegata whose flowers were red, like timber tree flowers and I wanted to buy it. Unfortunately, the owner didnt sell because he said it will die if dug in dry season. I was quite confused, since the tree was 2 meter height and had so many saplings. Why didnt he separate them and planted in pots or polybags to be sold. I think the tree was good, because it had yellow striped leaves that very contrast plus red flowers. I thought it will attract so many people to buy. When we were talking, he mentioned about Ficus Glomerata Variegata whose fertile was not good. I was interested to know more because I was interested in collecting rare plants especially that could be created as bonsai. When I saw the plant, it was only planted in polybag using unhulled paddy (paddy plants /rice that are hulled and then separated from the stalks) as media. It was put in the middle of higher trees, so there was possibility watering process could not be completed. Sunshine was also not than one hour, and there were so many branches were not cut in the lower position that made the variegata lost. I think that were the factors. After I bought and took it home, I did the repotting: 1 part soil + 2 part fertilizer + 1 part Malang sand (any sand taken from volcanoes). Before the substances mixed in pot, the bottom should be put filter to shut the hole. Finally, put the tree in the pot, do watering, and keep in shaded place. Put in a place with 2 hour morning sunshine when the tree grows new buds. After having many variegata leaves, full dry in the sun. When the tree grow green leaves, cut immediately. The result after 6 months, the tree became so fertile and good. So I started to shape it with Slanting Style. After 2 years with good nursery, it became 80% qualified bonsai. I kept doing the intensive care for the purpose of joining National Bonsai Competition. One day there was a bonsai lover outside Bandung city came to my place to see bonsai. When he saw the Ficus Glomerata Variegata, he was so impressed and eager to buy it. I understood his feeling, because I had ever the same experiences when I wanted to buy good and rare bonsai tree. After he did some very good offer, I sold the tree. Why? Because I had the saplings from prior graftings, so I still could have the same trees. I felt happy because there was a person who appreciated my work from the same hobby. Before applying the nail polish roll the bottle of nail polish, never shake it. Shaking causes air bubbles to form that will stand out when you apply the nail polish. Rest your hand on a firm surface so your nails remain steady while being polished. To apply the nail polish place the brush an eighth of an inch away from the cuticle - gentle pressure on the bristles will distribute the nail polish outward without bleeding over your cuticle. The first stroke should start from the center of your nail's base and be taken out to the tip. Then make two more even strokes. One on each side. benefits needlework brings. There are many reasons why
people choose use their leisure time to stitch, but there are
also many reasons why this is good for them! Engaging in a craft such as needlework causes the
embroiderer to slow down, and concentrate on the task at
hand. With such busy lives, many of us find that such
opportunities are precious. They help us to relax, give our
hands the chance to work, while our minds can be at rest.
Sure, needlework requires concentration, but some
needlework falls into a rhythm, which allows our brains to
disengage while our hands' muscle memory does the work. In his book "In Praise of Slow", Carl Honore explains why
slowing down is important, and how in our culture of speed
we need to take opportunities to slow down. Needlework is
a great way to do this. It takes time. It is not something that
can be mastered overnight, nor are most projects
something that can be done overnight. Needlework
develops fine motor skill, but also more intangible skills
such as delayed gratification and persistence. Needlework allows for expression of creativity. We can use
our embroidery to express ourselves. I do embroidery
because I must be creating something. For me, it is
something I am driven to do. If I do not create, I feel that
something is missing. For me, and many others, the action
of creating something contributes to our mental well being
and feelings of fulfilment. I feel that there is something spiritual about creating. Made
in the image of God, we share some of His likenesses. God
created everything. When I create, for me it is an act of
worship. Its me saying "God, you are the ultimate creator.
Here is my feeble attempt as an offering to you." I often find that many of the students in my needlework
classes have health problems. Needlework classes are an
opportunity for students to completely lose themselves in a
task, forgetting their problems, while enjoying the wonderful
social interactions that embroidery classes typically provide.
One of my students once commented that getting together
with a group of women to sew is better than paying $50 to a
therapist any day! And at the end they have something that
they have made to show off or even give to their family and
friends. The benefits of building social connections and self
esteem like this are enormous. It seems that many people agree. Attendance at the craft
shows around the nation is up, with many spending up big
on a range of crafts in which to immerse themselves. New
craft magazines are appearing on the newsagency shelves
all the time. The message that craft is good for you is
getting through. It is clear that needlework fills a void in peoples lives: for
social interaction, for expression of creativity, and for giving
people something meaningful and enjoyable to do. We can now enjoy the knowledge that research backs up
these experiences: participation in the textile arts brings
many benefits, particularly for health and social wellbeing.
